Alpha Bay — Documentation

01Overview

Alpha Bay is a live memecoin launchpad wrapped in the visual language of the historical AlphaBay market (2014–2017). The aesthetic is a museum recreation; the launchpad is real. Every coin launched here is a real pump.fun token quoted in wrapped Monero (wXMR).

Coins launched through Open a Stall are real tokens: they exist on Solana mainnet as Token-2022 mints created by pump.fun's program, trade against a real bonding curve, and are bought and sold with real money.

The $ABAY community token is live: mint 77ccRW1HE9Cpxa74SHbX3NE7XDnbThYAsALnqJPzpump. Copy the contract address from the footer. Follow @alphabaysol on X for updates.

02How it works

Deploying a coin calls pump.fun's create_v2 instruction. pump.fun's program creates the mint (a Token-2022 mint with its metadata pointer set to itself), initializes the bonding curve, and enforces creator fees and graduation. Alpha Bay deploys zero programs of its own — our product is only this UI and the deploy flow.

Each coin's bonding curve account is a PDA derived from the coin's mint address (seeds ["bonding-curve", mint]), which is how any tool can find a coin's curve from its mint alone — including this site's coin pages.

Each coin trades on its bonding curve until it graduates, at which point liquidity moves to a PumpSwap pool and trading continues there. Until graduation, all buys and sells execute against the curve via buy_v2 / sell_v2 — the Dead Drop → In Transit → Delivered badges on a coin page describe that journey.

03The wXMR pairing

The quote mint is wXMR — wrapped Monero on Solana (mint WXMRyRZhsa19ety5erZhHg4N3xj3EVN92u94422teJp, 12 decimals). Every curve on Alpha Bay is priced in wXMR: buys spend wXMR, sells receive wXMR.

The XMR/USD price shown across the site (ticker, coin pages, balance page) is read fully on-chain from the Raydium CLMM wXMR/USDC pool: the pool's sqrtPriceX64 field is decoded from the pool account and converted to a USD price with each token's decimals (12 for wXMR, 6 for USDC). No centralized price API is involved for XMR.

Quote-mint status: wXMR is accepted by pump.fun as a quote mint for coin creation through pump.fun's quote-control configuration (the QuoteControl PDA) rather than the program's global whitelist — functionally, create_v2 accepts wXMR as remaining account 0 today. The quote mint remains a single config constant in lib/constants.ts (QUOTE_MINT / QUOTE_SYMBOL / QUOTE_DECIMALS); only that constant would change if the quote ever did.

04Holder rewards

Every coin launched here is created with creatorFeeBps = 200 and holderReward = true — a 2% trade fee on every curve trade that accrues to the coin's holder-rewards PDA instead of the deployer's wallet. Alpha Bay takes no cut: we do not split, skim, buy, or burn any part of the fee or the curve.

Because the creator is set to the holder-rewards PDA, the deployer does not personally receive trade fees. Distribution of accumulated rewards to holders is handled by pump.fun's holder-reward flow (signed by the configured claim authority), not through this UI — Alpha Bay never touches those funds.

05Deploying a coin

1. Connect a Solana wallet (Phantom or Solflare). 2. Click ⛵ Open a Stall. 3. Fill in name (max 32 bytes), symbol (max 13 bytes), description, and a category. 4. Optionally upload an image (pinned to IPFS via Pinata) and set a first buy in wXMR or SOL. 5. Review the pre-sign summary — it shows the quote mint, the 2% holder reward, and the first-buy estimate — then approve in your wallet.

What the transaction does, literally: pump.fun's create_v2 initializes several accounts on-chain (the Token-2022 mint, its metadata, the bonding curve, and the curve's token accounts), so deployment costs real SOL in rent and transaction fees. If you set a first buy, the deploy sends create_v2 first and then a separate buy_v2 transaction after the curve exists; the first buy may charge up to ~1% more wXMR than typed (the SDK's slippage buffer), as the deploy screen discloses. If you choose SOL for the first buy, Jupiter swaps SOL → wXMR in a follow-up transaction before the buy.

Two details worth knowing: if your wallet has no wXMR token account yet, the transaction creates one automatically before the first buy; and the deploy transaction appends an SPL Memo instruction reading alphabay-launch:<mint>:<category> plus a 0-lamport transfer to the on-chain board PDA, which attributes the launch to Alpha Bay on-chain — that is how coins deployed here get the Launched on Alpha Bay tag and appear in everyone's listings.

After the transaction confirms you are redirected to your coin's page. If you have no wXMR at all, get some first — the deploy form links to Jupiter.

06Trading on a curve

On a coin page, the Trade box buys or sells directly against the bonding curve via pump.fun's buy_v2/sell_v2 instructions — curve trades execute on the curve itself, not through any aggregator (aggregators cannot route bonding-curve trades). Buys specify an amount of wXMR to spend; sells specify an amount of the coin (6 decimals — pump coins are 6-decimal Token-2022 mints). Amounts are parsed exactly from the text you type — more than 12 decimal places of wXMR is rejected client-side.

Protections that actually exist in the code: buys carry a 0.5% slippage cap computed in on-chain units and rounded up, so the cap is never truncated away on small amounts; sells carry a 0.5% minimum-out floor. Sells check your token balance before anything is sent and refuse with a clear message if you don't hold enough. Every trade transaction includes a compute-budget instruction sized for Token-2022 quote transfers, and if your wXMR account doesn't exist yet, the buy creates it automatically.

Trades wait for on-chain confirmation before the UI reports success and links the Solscan transaction. If a coin has graduated to PumpSwap, the Trade box refuses and tells you to trade on PumpSwap — Alpha Bay does not route PumpSwap trades. USD figures next to quote amounts use the on-chain wXMR price (see The wXMR pairing) and are indicative only — the curve itself always settles in wXMR.

07Risks

Trading launchpad coins involves real money and real risk. The pump.fun and PumpSwap programs are external contracts we did not audit; a bug in them can lose funds. Bonding curves are thin and volatile: slippage on large orders can be severe.

wXMR is a third-party wrapped asset: on top of XMR's own market risk you carry the wrapper/bridge's custody and solvency risk, and the on-chain wXMR/USDC pool is thin enough that wXMR can trade at a meaningful premium or discount to XMR — the site's XMR price is the wXMR price, not a promise of what off-chain XMR is worth.

Always verify a coin's mint address before buying. Lookalike and fake coins exist; a familiar name or symbol proves nothing. The mint address on every coin page is copyable — compare it against a source you trust.

The coin registry is per-browser: coins you deploy appear under Coins I Launched and in the listings only in the browser where you deployed them (localStorage) until a later indexer phase. Clearing browser storage removes them from view, though the coin itself remains on-chain.

Memecoins have no intrinsic value or expectation of return. Nothing on this site is financial advice; never trade money you cannot afford to lose.

08Bridge & Inscriptions

ABAY20 Phase 1 is live: every coin launched through Open a Stall is notarized on Monero. The launch flow builds a deployment record — {p:"abay20", v:1, op:"deploy", tick, mint, creator, launchTx, meta, nonce} — which is signed by the service's Monero spend key, wrapped in an ABAY20M1 envelope, split into numbered AB2 fragments, and carried as extra-nonce containers in a Monero transaction's tx_extra. The record is public; it contains no private keys.

The meta field is a SHA-256 commitment to the coin's metadata (name, symbol, description, image link) — it makes later metadata changes detectable without storing the metadata itself on Monero. The launchTx field links the Monero record back to the Solana launch transaction, which carries the alphabay-launch:<mint> SPL memo; the inscriptions service verifies that link against Solana before inscribing anything.

The index scans Monero blocks, reassembles AB2 fragments in order, verifies the signature and record format, and marks an inscription verified after 10 Monero confirmations. Inscriptions appear on the /inscriptions explorer and as a ⛓ Monero-notarized badge on the coin page. An inscription is a proof of provenance: it does not create a token balance, move funds, or affect the coin's pump.fun curve.

Phase 2 (in development): escrowed XMR ↔ wXMR bridging, indexed token balances on Monero, and signed wallet-to-wallet transfer records. The bridge will depend on an operator attestor — Solana cannot verify Monero state natively — and that trust model will be documented here before it ships.

09FAQ

Why does a coin page say "External coin — on-chain data only"? The mint is a valid address that isn't in the Alpha Bay launch index (it wasn't deployed through this site). The page reads the bonding curve live from the chain and offers trading, but shows no name, description, or launch attribution.

Which wallets work? Phantom and Solflare, via the standard Solana wallet-adapter connection flow. Your wallet address is your only identity — there are no accounts or passwords.

Why did my buy or sell fail with "amount too small"? The amount, after fees and curve math, rounds to zero tokens or zero quote tokens. Dust-sized orders below the curve's effective minimum can't execute — try a larger amount.

How does the guestbook work? Every post is a Solana transaction: it includes a small SOL transfer to the board PDA plus an SPL Memo instruction containing the message. Posts are read on-chain from the board PDA's transaction history, not stored in your browser.

Does Alpha Bay custody funds? No — every transaction is built client-side and signed by your wallet; we never hold keys or balances, and we take no fees.

What happens when a coin graduates? The bonding curve completes and liquidity migrates to PumpSwap; the Trade box will tell you to trade there instead.

Where is my coin listed after deploying? Everywhere, for everyone: the deploy transaction includes a 0-lamport transfer to the on-chain board PDA plus an alphabay-launch:<mint>:<category> memo, so every visitor's browser can discover your launch directly from the chain — Featured Listings, Vendors, and search are global, not per-browser.

What is $ABAY? The Alpha Bay community token, mint 77ccRW1HE9Cpxa74SHbX3NE7XDnbThYAsALnqJPzpump. It is featured at the top of the listings and its contract address is clickable in the footer. Follow @alphabaysol on X.
